Crime and fighting crime are at the center of public attention. Not a day goes by without the media reporting on crimes that are committed and cases that are prosecuted. A large amount of professionals combat crime and try to prevent crime on a daily basis. Good and thorough knowledge is indispensable in this respect. The Criminal Law and Criminology Department makes an important contribution to this, first, by offering both legal and social science bachelor and master programs, and second, by contributing to societal and scientific debates through numerous publications and lectures. The members of the department also disseminate their knowledge actively by means of training for professionals, consultation, commission memberships and various other ancillary activities.
